These people pump up the game with a wide variety of content, from all kinds of textures on cannons, to global modifications that change the game so that it seems like it is already a newly completely game. And once I proudly became one of these people, but now, I can say, retired.
In terms of modding, I personally San Andreas was closer to all GTA 3D era. Because it is simply more convenient for modding. It has the most perfect engine, which is well adapted for modding, and there are more than enough space for creativity. And it was precisely for this part that two simple Dutch mod makers were able to make a convenient tools that opened a whole layer of fundamentally new modding. So I smoothly bring you to the topic of DYOM, he is also Design Your Own Mission.

DYOM is a script, the functionality of which is a set of convenient tools and options that allow you to create their own missions in GTA: San Andreas.

Which direction everyone chooses to get up for himself, in my experience the truth, as is often the case, somewhere in the middle.
I have many things to share with you, this topic is actually more interesting than it might seem at first glance. But we will start with the materiel.
My friend Nikita, with whom we have known the very times when we were together in a Dyom-test, will help me and write to you about the history of Dyom development, about who created this project and how it developed it and leads it about the basics of functionality. It remains to tell me about the community that exists around this modification and introduce you to significant persons of this community. The history of the development of the project

Since the historical part is closer to me than the technical and game, I will briefly go on the chronology of the development of the project.

At the origins of DYOM are two Modmakers from the Netherlands – Patrickw and Dutchy3010. The first was known in the foreign GTA community for a long time, since its name is associated with a scandal with the so-called Hot Coffee mod, which allowed the player in the role of Sidge to engage in erotic aerobics (read-sex) with his girls. The srach was noble, and Rockstar and its publishers, Take-Two, almost millions of lawsuits and subsequent financial losses were worth. But today is not about that.
About who the sensors were before the development of the first version of DYOM, is not known much, but it is worth saying that by that time she had already released several scripts. Then there was a competition with the symbolic name of Design Your Own Mission, on which she presented the General Dilemma project-in fact, the first full-fledged DYOM mission in history, she also won the event.
In November 2008, two experienced models showed the world a simple and not very functional editor of their own missions. Its main feature is actually manual and intuitive tuning of intra -game objects and, no less important, the ability to arrange them directly in the game, controlling the siezheus.
Over time, the project instrumentation has only increased. In version 4.0 It became possible to add cat-scenes inside the missions and the possibility of passing them, in 5.0 The list of behavior models for “actors” has expanded, special goals “Time out” and “reverse countdown” appeared, and in version 7.0.1 DYOM has become available an option for a conversation by phone. Current version, 8.1, released in January 2014. According to Patrick and the Datchi, the support of the project will continue to be carried out due to the extremely large limits of the code they collected, which in new versions would be more unstable than it is now. However, the developers’ case was supported by numerous fans, creating new missions and even scripts that add new useful functions over the original DYOM.
A little more about the functionality

In addition to the already mentioned possibilities of flexible manipulation with game objects, which, in fact, is a somewhat simplified form of mapping, the ability to put and remove actors, with different models of behavior, weapons, and the opportunity to apply animation actors on the game engine, there is also the opportunity to spell and desking the world setting up the color and a different setDespause in the world of pickups with health, armor, or weapons, the ability to place the place of action in most of the game interiors.

How the mod works?
The mission in DYOM is from goals, everything else that is in DYOM is attached to the goals. If an actor appears in the world, then he appears during a certain goal, if this actor needs to disappear, then his disappearance is tied to one of the goals moving on. The same goes for pickups and cars.
All goals go consistently one after another, creating a storyline, when all goals end, the mission will end. The text of the mission and one action of the player are also tied to the goals, it goes after another.
The goals can be different: the camera to make katsen on the game engine, timaut to make a delay and write text outside the katsen, or use the delay differently, the checkpoint to which you need to get, the machine that needs to be destroyed in the mission, or the actor, or the actor who must be killed.

Russian DYOM community
“Gleb, why are you telling us about some little-known Modmakers community? What do we care about some strangers who make fashion for the game of sixteen years ago?” – my readers can reasonably be indignant. And I can understand your indignation.
But these things are very personal for me, and I want to share it with you. Moreover, I have the hope that someone may be interested in the topic, to a sufficient extent, to try to plunge, if not as the creator of missions, then as consumers of content, you may be useful for you to be useful. And in general, the topic itself, it seems to me sufficiently interesting, since Dyom community is a whole world, with its stories and shocks, friendship and betrayal, world and war.

In the far 2009, in the days of DYOM 5.0, if I am not mistaken, a group of enthusiasts from Russia was formed in the VKontakte group, which exists to this day. There was relevant information on DYOM, beginners’ questions, some chips and, of course, links to DYOM Projects.
Traditions to lay out their missions directly in groups, somehow it did not work out, the main range of makers, as the actual modmers in GTA, is the LibertyCity website.ru, I won’t be surprised if you even heard about him.
The time passed, the group grew itself and overwhelmed with content, thematic contests, rewards with nominations, reviews, intelligible f were added.A.TO.
In the peak of development, the group collected six to seven dozens of permanent asset, reviews were written there, large-scale projects were created, many competitions were held, it was possible to seriously get some amount of money there, you could find many tips and many of the rubrics were opened.
The catch is that the Founders-the founders of the group have long left, taking with them a grand-admin (creator’s rights). None of the admins – the proteges was not reliably fixed in its place, any other admin had the right to shift it.
This fact led to attempts by a coup of varying degrees of success and attempts to create an alternative where the Grand Admin was also, also of varying degrees of success. Nevertheless, the original group was and remained the main association of duhomers, but now he is experiencing a decline, losing people, headings and contests, which is dramatic.
Nevertheless, this business still lives, and here are a few people who have made a significant contribution to this matter.
Active community participants
Sizz – Actual head of the DYOM community, which became such when the previous leader left the community. Skillful Doum-Maker and Skripter. Today it is engaged in the fact that DYOM’s functionality improves on its own, making it much more convenient than it was before.
Thanks to Sizz, the list of available interiors has expanded, Dyom Fix, convenient functions and hot keys for existing, multifunctional teleports on the game map, manual input of ID actors and objects that have always needed to be flipped through, and much, much more, and the functionality is added.
Tandem Untitled -It consists of three people, is a creative association, in addition to DYOM, they have a musical project and created a visual short story (but somehow it was thrown out, like). Skic – A skilled script, tried in Dyom, but it did not work out very. Develops alternative software for creating missions, which he called: Ldyom. There is already the first version, delicious functionality is promised, but as far as I know, everything is now different from Dyoma, only by expanding the limits for actors, objects and goals.
Andre500 -An experienced script, who did a lot for a dUAL, made a medium-successful attempt to improve the convenience of typing, continuing the work of one character, which we will talk about below. It is also notable for the fact that it is included in the administrative apparatus LibertyCity.ru, where it helps to duumers.
Former community participants
Altermann -He came to the community somewhere in the tenths, now retired, but lasted quite a long time, was the first leader of the community, after the Grand Admin, a skillful doucher-miker, and the creator of several significant headings in the community, which are also dead now, has several excellent projects, with it, the community has experienced its flowering.
Mefisto1234 -He is holy for megbeat1234, skilled in a miker-miker and duum-linguist. Stands at the base of the Duomer language. Nevertheless, all DYOM Russification options and other DYOM mobs work on the basis of this font. He was once the head of the community, but was discarded because of the discontent of users, and poor management, after which he left the community, there was a whole drama behind this, now few people remember him with a kind word.
Vladislav87 -Mem-Mem, Hero Man, Human History. His departure is the biggest disappointment that passes through a leitmotif through all the activities of the community. At one time, with a group of like -minded people came against the Russian DYOM community, giving rise to a historical break. He behaved the more strange and made decisions the more absurd, the more this confrontation lasted. He lost the battle and was spent, after which he left not something from the community, but at once from all social networks. After a while, reflecting over the events of those years, everyone who then treated Vladislav did not ironically regretted it. There were attempts to find him and apologize for everything, like he even surfaced, but this was unsuccessful.
FarmerKarwer -He was a skilled maker who created very large-scale projects. He wrote official reviews with a citizen, whom we will talk about below, became the head of the community after the departure of the mythist, but due to a lack of time he was forced to put up powers towards another character, and he left Dyom.
Sioks – He is a kiosk, he is Fabletown101, or just Fable. The duo of the average lousy, critic, entered the administrative apparatus for a long time as an editor, after the departure of the farmer of Carver, became the leader. He was the main company of official reviews from the group, found finances for competitions, created several large -scale general projects. He left the community, as he changed his life priorities, realizing that he couldn’t give anything more, he handed over to the post Sizzzu and does not regret it.

Once was the head of the community, equally full as the mentioned Alterman. There are rumors that is included in the administrative apparatus, while in the shade, the Gray Cardinal of All Dyom.
Stillbro – He is Nikitoss, Chel_Chelious, Nikita and many other larvae. A successful duo and blogger left the community in the fandom of visual short stories, but left not far, around the corner from which sometimes peeps. He made several cult projects, wrote reviews during the time of Altern’a, the author of Dyom-Wiki, a historian, systematized the history of the Russian DYOM for his personal blog of VK and in this particular blog, which you are now reading.
Greytorch – He’s just stuck, or Seryoga. Making a payday duumanization. In general, it is better known because he was overturned to the administrator by the conspirator, to whom the admin panel himself entrusted. Still sits in the community and even thinks to release something.
Noteworthy DYOM projects
Phantasmagoria is an exemplary example of the Santal’s project, one of his strongest works. Deep, somewhat gloomy and ambiguous, makes you think. It is quite difficult to describe any project from this author, you need to play ourselves.
The last sunrise is the Stillbro plot project, affecting serious topics of the corrupt system and the life of a military man in peacetime. Very strong work on the characters. Probably one of the most worked out characters, of all the works of this author, and from the sphere of duoing in principle.
Zerstoren is a series of Alterman’s action projects, with a philosophical plot (albeit based on revenge), with deep and complex shootings.
A large interactive project is an old, large-scale, joint project with an interesting concept, each member of a member-a participant continues the previous mission, limited only by a common idea. The creation lit up as the already mentioned Santal, Greytorch, but they did not do missions, but engaged in other work, the mission did Chel_chelious, Altern, and not mentioned above Tommyassin, Robert_The_Producer, Tommka69 and Ritrs. None of these authors in the community are left. But it turned out, in general, not bad.
Endless story. The Great George WIC is conceptual, but not plot, continuation of the previous project. The bottom line was that history is built by active community participants as a whole, regardless of reputation and skill, and the qualification became even more loyal. I stood up at the head of the development, as I was then the head of the community, the idea belonged to me too, as many as 9 authors participated, besides me, they included Sizzs and Stillbro.
It turned out less folding, it was not possible to avoid plot holes, but the project became really successful, and in some way breakthrough, and also very large-scale.
Night penetration is a mission-meme, from a certain Timur. Film Room from Duoming World. A cult mission, so much so that it has become a cultural phenomenon. Roughly speaking, it’s so bad that it is good. Recommended for passage. By the way, Timur, posting this mission on Liberty, left and never returned. He left the legend.
Apocalypse today-a mission under the authorship of Mefisto1234, is in no way connected with the film of the same name, and in general it is about zombie apocalypse. One of his strongest works in the opinion of the community. Full of action and all sorts of interesting fichens.
Convision: denouement – from freshly, I personally in this project for authorship of the authors of Leon_crain, slippers and tpaxepa (tpaixipa, honestly, the moderator not a bath), did not play. But he made a lot of noise in the community and gathered a whole heap of positive reviews, even from the most attractive critics, there should be one of the strongest new works
Portal is the only one of its own way, a large project from the author of YSV1999, the only project that was completely voiced not by a nerd bout, but directly by the real person. The project was very inspired by Half-Life, although it bears the name of another Valve game, it is recommended to familiarize yourself.
The Condor Effect is a whole series of DYOM projects, the authorship of Narrator not mentioned. Western giving out a tarantinum, in the good sense of the word. However, labor in the installation, due to a heap of various scripts, in the appendage. But it’s worth it. It is a pity that the author left the movement before he finished the project.
